Auction grades are decided using the below scale. Below is an explaination of how they come to the auction grade for a car. It is worked out by adding an interior mark and an exterior mark, if it was simple as that it would be easy to understand, but there are other factors which give a car it's grade and these can make it confusing.
For example a grade 3 car, can be very clean, but it has had some slight chassis repair, so this car looks like a grade 3.5, but has been given a lower grade. Or a grade 4 car which has run more than 100,000 km becomes a grade 3.5. If a car is the same grade and a different price , this is probably because it still has some registration left, in our market price pages you can see if a car has registration left by looking at the inspection column. You should consider the amount of regestrtion left when you are choosing a car, cars with little rego will be cheaper. These are some of the things to consider when you are making your decision, we'll help as much as we can, to make your choice as easy as possible!
 Auction Grade
S. Exterior is A rank. Interior is A rank.
6. Exterior is A rank. Interior is A rank.
5. Exterior is A rank. Interior is A rank. a few slightly scratches or dents. a car which hasn't had any parts changed.
4.5 Exterior is B rank or better. Interior is B rank or better. A car which becomes the grade 5 with some slight attention.
4. Exterior is C rank or better. Interior is C rank or better. A car which has a few scratches, dents, burns and stains.
3.5 Exterior is D rank or better. Interior is D rank or better. A car which needs some attention to the exterior. A car which has a few holes, burns or stains.
3. Exterior is E or better. Interior is E or better. A car which needs a lot of attention.
2. A car is in very bad condition.
1. A tuned car,  a race car, a car which has had a hail damage.
RA or (OA) A car which has had some very slight chassis damage. (about 1-2 centimetres)
R, (A) or (O) A car which has had some chassis damage.
*** A car that has had an accident and not repaired. A classic car.
 Exterior Grade
A.
A car which is in very good condition.
B. A car which may have some scratches or dents the sizes could be from 5 cm to 15 cm. 
A car which may have been repaired and there is a slight wave. 
A car which may have some chips in the glass.
C. A car which may have some scratches, about 15 to 30 cm in size.
A car which may have some dents the size is a fist or larger.
A car which may have been repaired and there may be a slight wave.
D. A car which may havea lot of scratches.
A car which may havesome dents.
A car which may have dents or scratches which require a panal to be changed.
A car which may have been repaired but needs a panal to be re-repared.
A car which may have a lot of rusts or some erosions.
E. A car which needs a complete paint job.
A car which has a lot of erosions.

 Interior Grade
A. A car which is in very good condition.
   1.) It may have a few small blemishes
B. A car which is in good condition.
   1.) It may have some blemishes or small screw holes in the dash.
   2.) It may have a few cigarrete burns.
   3.) It may be a little dirty, but would clean up with a wash.
C. A car which is in average condition.
   1.) It will have some cigarete burns, the seats will have some wear or tears,
        there may be some screw holesin the dashboard or small fine cracks.
   2.) It will be a little dirty but if it is cleaned, it becomes a grade B.
D. A car which is lower than average condition.
   1.) It will have a lot of burns, and tears that will need repair.
   2.) There may be some warping in the dashboard.
   3.) It will have stains that won't clean up.
E. A car which bad condition.
   1.) It will have some cracks or gaps in the dash.
   2.) The interior or seats will have many stains and some sagging in the seats.
   3.) The interior may smell bad.
